My final bachelor project, the project with wich I finished my bachelor level education is "sound cooking". This is an individual project, coached by prof.dr.ir. Berry Eggen. The goal for me in this project was to explore the opportunities for bridging the gap between different forms of creative expression, either through cooking or through making music.
For this project, I developed a method of creating music through the activity of cooking using a sensor-enabled spatula and custom software to interpret a user's activity and generate responses in a soundscape.
As my final bachelor project, I had a lot of freedom to mold my work to fit to many of the aspects of my identity as a designer. For one, the use of technology and its influence on a user, their experience of their activities and their environment. Another area is the use and creation of music and the way people react to it. And finally the design methodology of physical computing, designing through making, tinkering, playing and experimenting that I am very fond of. I used this as my main means of idea generation for this project.
