BlueEye

In my first year at Industrial Design, I worked on the BlueEye project together with a team of fellow first-years and prof.dr.ir. Jean-Bernard Martens as a project coach. The goal of the project was to combine the physical and virtual worlds within the context of creating moodboards. Me and my team designed a system for seamlessly interacting with physical and virtual objects in a natural way, using gesture recognition and a multi-touch surface. This video shows the concept and demonstrates all the functionality we envisioned, simulated using a "wizard of oz"-style model.

This concept was written up into a scientific paper by Jean-Bernard Martens and co-authored by myself and some fellow team-members and presented by us at the 2006 CHI conference in London, England.

For me, this project was one of the first times I successfully worked together with a somewhat multi-disciplinary team on a larger project. The main thing I learned from this project is the value of teamwork, dividing up work, planning the course of a project and handing over responsibility for part of you ideas to other people and trusting them with it.
